Our collections on non-European cultures include art, ritual and everyday objects. All over the world, museums as well as art and cultural institutions complement their exhibitions and projects with our exhibits. Our staff will be happy to advise you.
We are happy to provide publishers, editors and scientists with publishable images. Digital data up to 40 megapixels can be delivered. An overview of a part of our objects incl. the option to download images can be found in our digital collection.
The special ambience for your event: The event hall in the Linden-Museum offers ideal conditions for lectures, symposia, training courses and cultural events. It can accommodate up to 270 people and has modern technical equipment.
Our library is a specialized academic library with a focus on anthropology. In addition, the collection includes literature on archaeology and art history of non-European cultures. The library can be used free of charge after prior registration. A reading room is available for use. Loans are not possible.
The library contains about 65,000 volumes. All media from the year 2000 onwards (approx. 25,000) can be searched via the online catalog of the Southwest German Library Network. There, the museum library can be selected to search only that collection. Previously published literature can be researched in the library rooms.
The library also owns about 250 periodicals, of which about 125 are current. These are indexed via the journal database and can be searched online.
Opening hours of the library (by appointment):
Tuesday and Thursday: 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Wednesday: 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
