The Linden-Museum preserves around 450 objects from the cultural heritage of the Chagga people in northern Tanzania, which were brought to Stuttgart between 1885 and 1918 during the German colonial period, often in violent circumstances.
Albi, the alpine swift, invites you to join him on a search for clues through our permanent exhibitions. Listen to the human and animal stories on our media guide!
With a presentation in the upper foyer, we trace the historical path of the objects from the Kingdom of Benin to the Linden-Museum, visualize milestones in their return to Benin City and present perspectives on their future.

We deal with issues relating to society, identity, cultural change, beliefs and globalization. We advocate tolerance and respect and enable visitors to encounter different realities of life in the world with an open mind, beyond a European perspective. We create space for exchange and encourage participation.

An open call for temporary use of vacant exhibition spaces: What have we learned from this experiment?
