Namibian Heritage Studies are evolving through academic frameworks, local initiatives, and global collaborations. This talk traces the field’s origins, highlighting efforts to expand its scope and address challenges in transnational partnerships. It explores the role of community inclusion, learning, and re-learning traditional practices in shaping heritage studies. A case study on preserving leather as material culture illustrates the intersection of academia, museums, and Indigenous knowledge. The talk concludes with key insights and recommendations for strengthening Namibian Heritage Studies.
