In the summer semester of 2019, the Institute for Public Buildings and Design at the University of Stuttgart, under the direction of Prof. Alexander Schwarz, will address the question of the structural future of the Linden Museum. The fictitious task is based on the real idea of the intended new building.
Different locations in Stuttgart’s city center are discussed in terms of their potential for the ethnological museum. The respective urban disposition places specific demands on museum designs and provides space for contemporary curatorial approaches.
Models and drawings of various design positions will be presented in a final exhibition at the Linden Museum. The designs, created with university freedom, are also intended to stimulate discussion about the significance of the Linden Museum for the public urban space in the center of Stuttgart.
