Feature film by Tawfik Alsaidi

Saudi Arabia in the 1990s: Nader, a new teacher and secret artist, arrives in a small, remote village. There he meets Norah, a young woman who sparks his creativity and inspires him to paint again and again. At great risk, they develop a tender connection and a silent bond. Nader enlightens Norah about the world outside their tiny community, and she realizes that she must leave the village to find a place where she can freely develop her artistic streak.

Norah is the first feature film by Tawfik Alzaidi and the first Saudi film to be shown at the Cannes Film Festival (Un Certain Regard 2024). Alzaidi’s film is a self-reflexive testimony about the deep human need for artistic expression.
