Mexican “Day of the Dead” Festival
On Día de los Muertos, the souls of the dead return to Mexico and celebrate a colorful festival with the living. The graves are decorated, house altars are erected, good food is prepared, colorful parades with loud music and dancing people in skeleton costumes take place.

The ofrenda is a table of gifts that families arrange in their homes for their deceased loved ones. Flowers, candles, pictures of saints, crosses, sugar skulls and photos decorate it. Things that the deceased liked during their lifetime are important: Chocolate, coffee or tequila, cigarettes and sometimes even fast food. Our ofrenda is designed by Guadalupe Bazan-Meyer.
The guided tour at 1:15 pm is in Spanish, the other two are in German.

We do handicrafts: Tagetes are orange flowers that decorate graves and the ofrenda and serve as signposts for the dead. Borlas are colorful pom-poms used to embellish bags, clothing or key rings. We dress the skeleton lady La Catrina magnificently as a paper collage. She can also be used as an albanico (fan).
