Salma is a young, privileged, and rebellious Saudi girl whose family hires a Sudanese man named Gamar to drive her to her daily activities. Initially, their relationship is limited to a simple employer-employee dynamic, but soon a close personal friendship develops between Salma and Gamar, connecting them through their teenage years and beyond. However, as Salma grows older and learns to drive herself, their friendship is put to the test.

My Driver and I is the first feature film by director Ahd Hassan Kamel (known for films such as Wadjda) and celebrated its world premiere in 2024 in competition at the Red Sea International Film Festival. Sudanese actor Mustafa Shehata, who plays the driver, was a guest at the Arab Film Festival in 2019 with the Sudanese film You Will Die at Twenty by Amjad Abu Alala, who also appears in the film.
