Documentary film by Mohamed Subahi

Django, Esra, and Mou’men, three young Sudanese people, have been participating in nonviolent protests against the military government since December 2018, which ultimately led to the overthrow of the incumbent president. They are fighting to change their personal circumstances while grappling with the profound changes brought about by the Sudanese December Revolution. At the same time, the hopes and resilience of the protesters are being tested by various armed groups violently vying for power. They resist in their own way, contributing their individual skills. Although they belong to different communities and use different means, their common goal remains: Madaniya, a civilian government for their homeland.

Madaniya premiered at the Sheffield Doc Fest and was screened at the Cairo International Film Festival.
