Feature film by Mohamed Lakhdar Tati as part of the Arab Film Festival

In the rugged, mountainous landscape of Algeria, near the Tunisian border, Fethi and other villagers make a living smuggling gasoline, working at night and paying protection money to local crime bosses. Saad is a filmmaker who needs money to complete his film and has been working with Fethi for a year. He lives in the family’s shed, where he is both part of the loving household and the risky business. At the same time, he is obviously an outsider: elegantly dressed and ready to contradict anyone, even the imam. Hard, dark, but also atmospheric and suspenseful, this remarkable film delves deeply into the complexities of family, friendship, and daily survival.

Mohamed Lakhdar Tati’s visually stunning Western-style debut film celebrated its world premiere at the Red Sea International Film Festival and is an ode to the Algerian landscape.
